PK111™

Designed for the dining area of Kjærholm’s own home, the PK111™ room divider was conceived to balance intimacy and openness. The house, designed by his wife, architect Hanne Kjærholm, unfolds as an open-plan space informed by Japanese ideas of spatial flow, where rooms are defined by light, proportion and movement rather than walls. Positioned between dining and living areas, the PK111™, at a height of 140 cm, creates a sense of enclosure when seated, while preserving openness and visual continuity when standing.

ポール・ケアホルム

コペンハーゲンのデンマーク美術工芸学校で学び、家具職人として修練を積んだポール・ケアホルムは、建築素材——とりわけスチール——に強い関心を持っていました。スチールは、木などの天然素材と同様に芸術的な敬意に値する素材であるとケアホルムは考えていたのです。ケアホルムは、1955年に家具メーカーのアイヴィン・コル・クリステンセン社とのコラボレーションを始めました。このコラボレーションはケアホルムの生涯にわたって続き、両家はいまも親しい間柄にあります。ケアホルムが他界した2年後、ケアホルムの管財人は故人が1951年から1967年にかけて手がけた「ケアホルム・コレクション」の製造と販売をフリッツ・ハンセンに委ねました。フリッツ・ハンセンは、現在も「ポール・ケアホルム・コレクション」の製造を続け、ポール・ケアホルムの家具を世界中の建築家の皆さまや個人のお客さまにお届けできることを誇りに思っています。
