Velvet

GENERAL INFORMATION

Fritz Hansen’s velvets are selected for their beauty and durability in every setting.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Vacuum frequently, ideally every week. Velvet should be vacuumed in the direction of the nap. It is important to use a suitable mouthpiece for upholstery textiles.

CLEANING & STAIN REMOVAL

Darker spots as a result of stain removal can occur. In addition, pressure marks can occur during usage. Spots and pressure marks can be removed by brushing the textile with a soft brush in moist condition. Moist the textile by placing a damp cloth on the whole. Then brush in the nap direction with a soft brush.
Pressure marks are difficult to avoid even if the textile is used carefully. This is a typical property of velvet, and it is neither a defect nor a sign of low quality.
Velvet are generally more sensitive to wrong handling than flat-woven textiles. However, the recommendations above, a damp cloth, are likely to remove most creases and pressure marks.

STEAM CLEANING

The upholstered furniture and products listed below can safely be steam cleaned.

CAUTION

Sharp objects can scratch, and damage textiles and non-colourfast clothing can cause permanent discolouration. Avoid placing in direct sunlight for extended periods of time or close to heat sources.
Stacking of upholstered chairs can cause pressure marks in the upholstery. To minimize pressure marks when stacking upholstered chairs use the piece of cardboard and thin foam to divide the pressure from the four spacers onto a larger area. This does still not guarantee no pressure marks.
