SUMMERTIME STORIES: ANNIKA ZOBEL AGERLED & KARL-OSKAR OLSEN

"We eat outside in our garden as often as we can – taste and flavour are enhanced by the outdoor elements," share Annika Zobel Agerled, owner of the glassware brand Akua Objects, and her husband Karl-Oskar, founder of cycling apparel brand Pas Normal Studios. Four years ago, they moved into their unique family home north of Copenhagen, embracing its serene outdoor spaces. "We quickly realised that the garden was perfect as it was—secluded, overgrown, and lush with large trees."

Their outdoor space serves as a sanctuary where they escape the everyday hustle and bustle of city life, enjoying the natural sights and sounds: the wind rustling through the trees, birds chirping, and even resident squirrels and a fox. Summertime holds a special place in their hearts. "Summer, much like Christmas, evokes many meaningful memories because we spend more quality time together as a family," they reflect. Rain or shine, summer for them is about making special moments with friends and family.

From morning coffee to dinners and evening gatherings with neighbours, the family maximises their outdoor spaces. "Our garden and terrace are integral to our daily lives, especially during summer," they explain. "It's where we bathe the kids, grill with friends, watch late-night movies under blankets with popcorn, and connect our home with nature."
 
As co-founders of creative manufacturing companies, Annika and Karl-Oskar imbue their home with originality and storytelling. "Our style reflects our passion for Art Deco and the golden age of Danish furniture art," they note, blending objects from South American and Asian cultures to create a diverse, personal aesthetic.
