Magic and design nostalgia in Tivoli’s Japanese Tower

In the fairytale world of Tivoli, right in the heart of Copenhagen, Fritz Hansen has unveiled its pop-up concept with two renowned Michelin restaurants, AOC and Koks. Here, a curated series of Danish design classics set the stage for an unforgettable gastronomic experience, blended with magic and nostalgia.

Founded in 1843, Tivoli is a national treasure, deeply rooted in Denmark’s DNA. In the iconic Japanese Tower, perched amid Tivoli’s lush gardens, Fritz Hansen was tasked with designing the restaurant’s interior for a new pop-up concept with a pair of two-star Michelin restaurants, AOC and Koks. Here, a sleek, contemporary aesthetic is paired with iconic classics that play with the history and artistic expression of the building, including Wegner’s China Chair™, Arne Jacobsen's Series 7 ™ and Jo Hammerborg´s Orient ™ lamp.

A nod to the building’s oriental roots, the China Chair was inspired by the timeless aesthetic of ancient Chinese design in the 17th and 18th century. In Wegner’s modern interpretation, he unfolds his talent as a wood craftsman and his flair for sculptural expression with a piece that stands the test of time. Elsewhere, the Orient lamp serves as an ode to fine craftsmanship with its organic curves and elegant form – a highlight in the restaurant’s interior.

Fritz Hansen's vision was to create the framework for a universe where quality and intimacy is naturally related to the guest’s gastronomic experience. A palette of carefully selected colours and materials are included as playful elements in the decor.
