JØRN UTZON

Creating things for people - this is the core ethos of probably Denmark's most famous architect, Jørn Utzon (1918-2008). He was educated at the Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts, concluding in 1942 and then developed his talent further at studios such as the Alvar Aalto studio in Helsinki. This inspiration helped Utzon gradually optimise his talent for creating architectural, organic space while maintaining respect for people, nature and surroundings.

Utzon's approach to design is poetic. He drew inspiration from natural, organic shapes combined in rhythmic modules – themes that manifest in both his design and architectural vocabulary.

During the 1960s, Utzon collaborated with Fritz Hansen, who, today, proudly produces the Utzon Stool and the Concert Lamp: two unique pieces that encapsulate the very essence of Utzon's genius with his distinctly lyrical expression.
