When KBP Ingenieure GmbH began refreshing its headquarters to align with a new brand identity, the company saw an opportunity not only for visual renewal but for meaningful impact. With a strong commitment to sustainable design solutions in their own engineering work, the team decided to lead by example — choosing to refurbish rather than replace the seventy Series 7™ chairs that had served them for close-to three decades.
Originally selected for their design, colour, and practicality, the 27-year-old chairs had long supported meetings and collaboration across the company’s offices. Now, with support from workplace specialists designfunktion, these classic Arne Jacobsen designs have been reimagined in a refined new palette that reflects KBP’s corporate colours: calm light beige, natural deep clay, and a vibrant paradise orange as a highlight.
“The refreshed chairs provide a more calm and pleasant environment for the team,” notes the interior designer behind the project, adding that the colours were chosen to complement the new branding — a balanced mix of natural and neutral tones with a distinctive pop of orange.
Refurbishing the existing chairs was a deliberate choice that echoed the company’s core values. As specialists in sustainable engineering forfor building services and technical infrastructure, KBP applies innovation to reduce environmental impact — and that includes their own interiors. “Sustainability is essential to our owners and our team,” the company shared. “Choosing to refurbish supported our internal goals by preventing waste and designing for long-term use.”
By breathing new life into an enduring design classic, KBP Ingenieure shows how thoughtful refurbishment can bring aesthetic cohesion, environmental responsibility, and renewed comfort — all without compromise.
