PVD (PHYSICAL VAPOUR DEPOSITION) COATED METAL

GENERAL INFORMATION

PVD coating is a deposition method that applies an ultra-thin layer of material onto a surface to give a consistent, smooth and lasting finish. In contrast to traditional coating methods, PVD coating allows the characteristics of the underlying material to show through. Safe for people and the environment, the PVD coating process does not use harsh chemicals or create hazardous by-products. Fritz Hansen uses black PVD coating on the Swan™ and Egg™ chairs and footstools as an understated and modern contrast to the sculptural designs.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

PVD coating is so thin that the original surface finish of the material covered remains intact. Four times harder than chrome, non-corrosive and scratch resistant, PVD coating is highly resistant to damage. Yet despite its durability, PVD coating can become damaged due to hard knocks or repeated rubbing with abrasive materials.
For daily cleaning, wipe with a soft and clean cotton or microfibre cloth.

CLEANING & STAIN REMOVAL

Stains and dirt can be removed using a solution of hot water and a mild, universal cleaning product. Rinse with warm water and wipe dry with a clean cloth.

CAUTION

Never use abrasive cleaners, including steel wool and polish. Instead, use a mild detergent and follow the packaging instructions. Likewise, do not use highly acidic or alkaline cleaners such as vinegar solutions or soap flakes, which can damage the coating or leave the surface with a film of grease.
