WICKER

Wicker is a completely natural and very durable material. It is derived from the cores of Rattan stalks (a member of the Palm family) and is very homogenous in its quality and appearance. Wicker is a sturdy but bendable material and is easy to weave with.  All the wicker seats and backrests on Poul Kjærholm furniture from Republic of Fritz Hansen™ are hand woven. Our supplier through many years is an experienced weaver from the small Danish island of Endelave. Wicker develops a beautiful patina over the years. If a wicker seat or rest wears out or is damaged, it can be easily repaired and restored to its original state.

MAINTENANCE & CARE
Wicker will dry out in places with a low air humidity level (in rooms with central heating, for instance). When wicker dries out, it grows hard, and the risk of it breaking will increase. For this reason, we recommend moistening wicker furniture 10-12 times a year. Prepare a solution of about 2-3 tablespoons of soap flakes in 1 liter of warm water, and use a spray bottle to spray it onto the wicker. Allow it to penetrate the wicker. If necessary, wipe any excess water of the front of the chair with a clean, moist cloth, but on the back, leave the foam on so that it can penetrate the wicker.
