Designed with the environment in mind Fritz Hansen’s quality products are designed to last, which minimizes their impact on the environment


When designing furniture the lifetime is an important factor that minimize the environmental impact. The reason for this is; once a furniture has been produced, it does not deplete our resources, nor does it have an impact on the environment. Therefore simple and timeless design and the materials used are extremely important factors when developing a furniture which can last a lifetime.


MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS


Environmental & Quality System Fritz Hansen’s environmental and quality management system is certified according DS/EN ISO 14001:2004 and DS/EN ISO 9001:2000. This compliance is achieved through biannual audit, continuous improvements and action plans supported by firm budgets, ensuring that policies are implemented.

Employee Health and Safety Fritz Hansen aims at meeting or exceeding OSHA standards.


MATERIALS & MANUFACTURING PROCESS 


Below you’ll find explanations of our production processes and material used, and how we have
minimized their environmental impact:

Chromium-platingChromium-plating
Chromium-plating take place in a closed circuit in order to recycle the process water. Trivalent chrome is used for the chromium-plating. The chromium-plating is intended to ensure the metals a long lifetime.
FoamFoam
Foam for filling and upholstery is freon-free. Remnants are granulated wherever possible, for recycling as cushion filling.
GlueGlue
Glue used for bonding veneers and upholstered chair are water-soluble.
Lacquer Lacquer
Lacquer is applied in a closed circuit where the emissions are minimal.
MetalsMetals
Metals are sold to a scrap dealer and melted for recycling.
Paper and cardboardPaper and cardboard
Paper and cardboard used in administration and production are recycled.
SuppliersSuppliers
Suppliers environmental stance is examined as part of Fritz Hansen's quality and environmental management systems before Fritz Hansen enters into a cooperation with a supplier.
PlasticPlastic
Plastic components are identified with a recycling code whenever possible to facilitate the return of the materials to the recycling stream.
Textile/leatherTextile/leather
Textile/leather remnants are recycled wherever possible.

WoodWood
Wood in Fritz Hansen products is sourced from managed forests.
