STATE OF THE ART IN BERLIN

It’s always a pleasure when the interior and exterior form a synthesis. This is the case in point with the EnBW building in Berlin - Energie Baden-Württemberg AG. The building is located in the Spreekarre on Friedrichstrasse in the center of Berlin.

The task of the architect office mori:projects was to create a unique space for the CEO office at EnBW – and accommodation for different occasions. In the eyes of the mori architects the coexistence of the transparent architecture and the visible dynamic city center demanded a powerful opposite in interior space. They recommended a “powerful language to hold against the surrounding sculptural architectural statements (the dome of the Reichstag, Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse, the Kanzleramt, the Alexanderplatz)”.

Furniture chosen includes Poul Kjærholm furniture and Oxford by Arne Jacobsen (see above).

    Berlin

Mark Phillips, one of the architects in the mori team, motivates the choice:

“We chose the furniture because it has a classic understatement combined with a powerful appearance which adds to the whole interior. The cognac leather supports our red orientated colour scheme and adds colourful highlights to the beige and aluminium interior. There’s no other chair but PK31 that combines a classic design with a comfortable, elegant, fresh and light appearance. With the classic shapes of the PK31 and Oxford combined with the cognac leather we created a perfect combination of calmness and loudness.”
